Whether you're a seasoned builder or just curious about robotics and all things RC, this in-person event is the perfect opportunity to dive into the exciting world of battlebot creation with experts to help guide you!
Build Rules:
-
Max Weight: 450g (including with battery and all equipment needed for a fight, in the event a bot would have more than 1 blade or different configurations allowed within the rules set out, the heaviest configuration will be considered)
-
Visible power on LED
-
Power Switch or removable link
-
Weapon bar locking (spinners only)
-
No Fire or articles that produce fire
-
No Explosives
-
Nothing that will intentionally damage the arena
-
Nothing Illegal
-
Receiver with fail safe (spinners only)
-
Spinner blades need to not be powerful enough to penetrate through 3mm polycarbonate (if your spinner hits a wooden surface and sufficiently becomes embedded, this may be powerful)
Match Rules:
-
Matches last for a maximum of 3 minutes, if there is no winner then our judge will determine the winner based on the fight and tactics used
-
To win, you must either stop a bot moving for 10 seconds, or knock your opponent out of the arena (touching the outer wall of the polycarbonate arena within the knockout area does count)
-
Each driver can have 1 unstick per match
-
If a battery becomes exposed, the match will stop, this will count as the drivers unstick
-
Bots can be repaired between matches using equipment on hand to you, however the overall bot must not change
-
Simple changes can be made to your bot between fights, for example a change of the blade used on a spinner, however drastic changes may be asked to be un-done
-
Cluster bots are allowed and 66% of the bots must be knocked out of the arena/immobilised for the other bot to win
-
It is permissible to have multiple drivers
-
Where possible we will space matches so that each driver and bot gets a break for repairs, in the event this can not be done, the driver will have a maximum of 7 minutes to repair their bot or to make modifications, this may be increased on the day based on the match layout

Timetable for the day:
10 .00 -> 10.30 - Arrival, weigh in, and safety check
10.30 -> 13.00 - Fights!
13.00 -> 14.00 - Lunch and repairs
14.00 -> 16.20 - Fights!
16.20 -> 16.30 - Winner crowned!

The safety check will involve checking compliance with the rules listed above and will include a receiver fail safe test in which we will spin up the weapon on the spinner and switch off the controller, a successful bot will have the spinner stop.
